| Thinking about not being a cheap bastard anymore and finally catching up with society - I believe I'm going to get myself a PS3 for Christmas. I usually run five to ten years behind on technology; I'm no Luddite, but I like for all the bugs to be worked out before I bother with anything. And I really am a cheap bastard.
So, I already know that I want:
Heavy Rain
MGS4
Resident Evil 5 & 6
Godfather II
Star Wars: Force Unleashed 2
Dead Space (or is that just on XBox?)
God of War III
Prince of Persia
Maybe Final Fantasy XIII. Maybe. .................
Do you guys have any recommendations for games of that sort? I really don't care for racing/sports or FPS, though Farcry looks pretty cool. I like horror titles, RPG, stuff like that. Maybe some of the LEGO games to play with the kiddo. What do I just HAVE to get?

| I'm usually a PC person, but most of my friends are PS3 people so i end up playing them from time to time
Obviously both batman games are awesome, as well as Red Dead Redemption is fun as hell.
Devil May cry 4
Burnout paradise is a good racer, even though it's not as good as the burnouts before it
Both Dead space games are indeed on PS3
Ghostbusters is actually a fantastic game to pick up cheap ( the first one, not that crappy as hell "slime time " or whatever)
Little big planet is endless IF you have an internet connection
L.A. Noire was actually originally developed for PS3 only ,from what i understand, and from what i am told, and have seen, it is easily the best version ( no 6 disks bullshit or however many it was)
I'm also pretty sure Ninja Gaiden Black had a version on PS3
...and finally, i kinda liked the 1st godfather game more, but i played it modded on PC, so i don't know how the console version stands

| It's too bad that it is almost impossible to get e reverse compatible Ps3 anymore. just a thought.....
anywho, if your looking for games with the kiddo, the Lego batman games are fun, and also, you might want to check out what indie bundle packs they have on disk when you start shopping for games, there is some good stuff out there
( if you get a chance to play Limbo, or Retro City Rampage, then give it a try, i personally love them both)
Oh, and just ignore the Burnout suggestion, i forgot your not a Racing game fan .
anyway, there is my 2...erm....4 cents!

| Yes, I really would prefer it to be backwards compatible, but I'm sure the used ones cost a bundle anymore. I have the PS2 versions of Ghostbusters, Force Unleashed 1, and Godfather 1 - same games, just shittier graphics. If I can get cheap copies of any of them I probably will, just to see them as intended.
I forgot about Batman, they'll have to go on the list, along with most everything else you mentioned. You've sort of got me wanting to play Devil May Cry, now!

| The HD Collection for ICO and Shadow of the Colossus comes to mind if you don't already own the ps2 versions (even then the purchase is justified imho). And if you don't have anything against hard games then check out Demon Souls and Dark Souls. Also If you are into Games like Tomb Raider, then there is always the Uncharted-Trilogy.

| You know, I said Far Cry, when I think I meant Uncharted. I'm into that whole Indiana Jones/adventure thing, those look great. | |

| I recommend turning your PS3 in and getting a 360. | |

| Bah, never! And after this, I'm done with consoles anyway. I've owned every console released up through the original Wii (except for an Atari 7800, for some reason), and it turns out that online play has now completely turned me off to the idea of ever purchasing another - I'm just done, now. And this is coming from the guy who bought a Virtual Boy! So, I have a few years to catch up on the PS3 titles I've missed, and then I'm done with gaming.
That makes me sad. End of an era and all that.
